LANGUAGE FOCUS 02 Making predictions
In this activity we look at different ways to talk about the future.
James, Sarah and the Host say:
James: And there's a chance that once people start taking up outdoor
pursuits….
Sarah: I predict a four day working week will be standard within 10
years.
Host: That's great news Sarah, you're bound to do well.
When we talk about what we think may happen in the future, this is called making
predictions.
We usually use going to and will when we talk about the future. But these are for
actions we have planned or just decided on.
If we are not sure about the future, we can use other expressions.
