WRITING 01 A narrow escape
Now it's your turn to tell a story.
1. Think about what you have read and heard in this unit.
• Have you ever been in a dangerous or frightening situation?
• Do you know anyone else who has been in a dangerous or frightening
situation?
2. Write about this situation.
3. If you don't want to write about dangerous situations, answer this
question:
• Do you know any folk tales from your country?
4. Tell us the folktale.
WRITING 02 Pairwork
1. Exchange your work with your partner.
2. Read his/ her work.
3. Write a few comments at the bottom of the page saying what you think
about the writing.
Some examples:
I find your story very sad/ interesting/ scary …
Your work is really interesting. I especially like the part about …
Your story is interesting because I have had a similar experience myself …
VOCABULARY Dictionary work
1. Look back through the unit and choose at least six words you didn’t know
before.
2. Look up the meanings in your dictionary.
3. Write the meaning next to each word. Write the meaning carefully so that
you can understand it in the future.
4. Now teach your partner the new words.
