LANGUAGE FOCUS 04 Talking about consequences
In this activity you will learn how to talk about the consequences of actions.
Steve says:
Anyone can climb if they have the right technique.
If you come off the rock, the belay helps to stop your fall.
Steve is talking about things that generally happen when you climb rocks. He uses a
conditional sentence with the present tense in both the main clause and the conditional
clause. This is sometimes called the zero conditional.
We use the zero conditional to talk about things which generally happen or which are
generally true. The action in the main clause depends on the action in the conditional
clause.
