The centre will probably have parking for 500 cars. This means there will be plenty of
room for visitors from outside New Town. If these people come to the centre, it will be
very good for the community. We will also be able to invite other sports clubs to join in
our own activities. As you know, I have wanted to do this for a long time. We all know
how much fun it is to get together with people who share our interest in adventure
sports.
The centre will most likely be open 7 days a week. This will be good for our weekend
activities. I hope we will be able to use the pool for training, as I know many of you are
very keen swimmers. Jin Hee's Tae Kwon Do classes will most likely move to the
centre as well. This is great news, as the room she is using at the moment is much too
crowded. Her classes are so popular!
If we can get a room at the new centre, we'll have our meetings there. This will be a big
improvement.
So, there's a lot to look forward to when the new sports centre opens. It's been a long
time coming, but now all you Adventure Sports Club members can be happy that it's
finally on the way! Well done, Mr Baskett!

LANGUAGE FOCUS 04 Ways of talking about the future
We can use the future tense to talk about certain and uncertain events.
1. When we feel certain
Reg and Mr Baskett say:
Mr Baskett: ….The children will be able to start their training much sooner now,
because we will have the best facilities and trainers right here…..
Reg: …I believe there will be an outdoor swimming pool, won’t there? Will it
be heated?
Mr Baskett: Yes Reg, that’s right, a 50 metre heated pool, so now New Town will be
able to hold official competitions at last. That will bring a lot of visitors
here and more money into the community. There will also be a gym and
basketball and tennis courts.
When the speaker feels certain about the future he/she uses will.
