LANGUAGE FOCUS 02 Asking for and giving advice
Giving advice means helping someone decide what to do. In this activity we look
at ways to ask for and to give advice.
1. Asking for advice
Jin Hee and Steve say:
Jin Hee: Well I'm not sure if it is a good idea to move my classes... What do you
think I should do?
Steve: Umm, why don't you ask your students what they think?
Jin Hee has a problem - she doesn't know whether to move her Tae Kwon Do class or
not. She asks Steve his opinion about what is the best thing to do. She is asking for
advice.
Jin Hee asks Steve:
Jin Hee: So do you think I should say anything to my students?
Jin Hee isn't sure about her idea, so she asks Steve his opinion. She is checking if her
idea is good or bad. This is another way to ask for advice.
