DEAR ANNIE
Broken promises
Dear Annie
I hope you can help me solve a
problem.
One year ago, I lent my brother
$1000. At that time he promised
that he would pay me back, little
by little, within a year.
Now, after almost a year, he has
not paid me anything. I keep
asking him but he always says
he will pay me “soon”.
My family does not know about
this. They think my brother and
I have no problems. We have a
big family reunion in a few
weeks and we will both be there.
I’m really angry with him but I
don’t want to upset my family.
I’m sure he will not pay me the
money by then. I don’t want to
have an argument.
What should I do?
Betrayed Brother
Not pretty enough
Dear Annie
I am a 16 year old girl and I need
help!
I sometimes think no one will
ever love me because I am not
very pretty. All my friends have
boyfriends but I am alone.
Two months ago I met a really
nice boy through email.
We have become really good
friends and we chat every day.
We talk about all kinds of things
and think the same way.
He lives in another city so we
have never met in person. I
don’t have a photo on the Net so
he has never seen what I look
like.
My problem is that he wants to
meet me. He is coming to my
city next month and wants to
meet and talk to me. I am afraid
that when he sees me he is going
to hate my appearance. I am
afraid that I am going to lose his
friendship and he will never talk
to me again.
Please tell me what to do. I
don’t want to lose this boy!
Ugly in love
What do you think they should do?

• What other advice would you give him?
Start your letter like this:
Dear Betrayed Brother,
Well, you are in a difficult situation! I think …
