Here are some of them. Crimes against the person This is when someone does something illegal against another person. Murder is intentionally killing another person. Assault is using violence to hurt someone. Kidnapping is taking a person (often a child) away without consent. Robbery is using force to take someone else’s property. Crimes against property This is when someone takes or damages the things owned by another person. Theft is taking another person’s property, for example, going into someone’s house and stealing a TV. Vandalism is damaging someone else’s property on purpose. Fraud is gaining money by deceit or trickery, for example, credit card fraud or tax fraud (not paying tax or enough tax). Embezzling means stealing money from the company you work for. Internet crime is where a computer is used to commit a crime. It may be used for fraud. Misdemeanours Misdemeanours are less serious crimes such as not stopping at a red light. White-collar crime White-collar crime is crime by people who work in higher status jobs where workers must be well-dressed.
