PRACTICE 06 Make your own paragraph
Now practise putting a paragraph together.
1. Read the six sentences below. They come from two different paragraphs
but are mixed up. One paragraph is about the Day of the Dead (the picture
on the left) and the other is about the Pinata (the picture on the right).
2. Make the two paragraphs. Write the sentences under the correct picture
and in the correct order.
The family then spends the night
remembering their ancestors, praying and
singing.
Families visit the graves of dead relatives
with flowers, candles, pictures and food.
The piñata is one of the best-known symbols
of Christmas in Mexico.
It is a hollow papier mache animal or figure
filled with sweets which hangs from a rope.
People are blindfolded and given a stick to
try and break open the piñata, and
everybody who is watching rushes to get the
sweets when the piñata is finally broken.
The Day of the Dead, one of the most
famous festivals from Mexico, is a family
event to remember ancestors
